Sound Resistance

Tired of the noise from neighbors, nearby industries, barking dogs, or traffic? Relax! Sound resistant windows and doors help keep outside noises out of your home.

Learn how Sound Resistance Windows operate

With different construction techniques, you can achieve a level of sound resistance that will reduce noise and improve the sound in your home.

1. Dual/Triple Pane Glass

As the name states, dual-pane has two panes of glass, while triple-pane windows have three panes of glass. Windows that are dual or triple pane will offer more insulation than a single pane window. This is due to the inert gas that is inserted between the panes of glass. This gas will also provide greater sound resistance and the most energy efficient.

2. Varying Glass Thickness

The thicker the pane of glass, the less sound that will travel through the window. If the home requires a larger window, a thicker glass may need to be used. To improve sound resistance, combining different thickness of panes within one window unit will significantly reduce the amount of noise that will transfer through the window.

3. Insulating Window Frames

The type of window frame that encases your window will help keep sound from entering your home. The best material for window frames that has the best insulating performance is Wood, Fiberglass and Vinyl. Wood windows have natural insulating properties and are very sound resistant. Fiberglass and Vinyl windows can be filled with a foam that will help with sound reduction.

4. Proper Installation

With proper installation, the window will perform at the highest level, providing the greatest amount of sound cancelation and energy efficiency.
